Go Dodgers,,,,

Doesn't Catherine look sporty in her uniform, she is number two. She had her first game on Tuesday and they won, she has a game on Saturday and I will get some better pictures to share. Catherine scored a run, she got on because she has a very small strike zone and she was waiting for her pitch........She was so excited running the bases......I hope they do as well on Saturday.
Jenny is in Georgia and she pasted the physical tests with seconds to spare.....way to go Jenny. She said it is humid in Georgia and her hair is a bit poodle like. She also said the food there is pretty good lots of good southern cooking. She is going to see some sights this week-end I hope she can share some pictures of her adventure.
Happy Friday the 13th to everyone, and Happy 16th Birthday to Alyssa. I hope she has special plans because 16 is a big one........then 18 then 21. We sent her a card and a gift card and my dad sent her a card and some cash.......which is always useful to a teenager. She called yesterday to say thanks and she is trying to get a job at a skating rink near her house.....that would be a cool first job.
Tonight I am watching Survivor in a couple of weeks Sarah and I will be able to watch it together at her house. We are ready for Hawaii we have a few things planned and we are going to be flexable on some other stuff we will see how the weather is and what we feel like doing each day. We are going to eat shrimp from a truck we saw on the food network, and have a pineapple whip at the dole plantation. We are so excited ... it is getting close now.

Spring Ahead.......

Lining up for the team picture.....tallest to smallest........the Dodgers
Yes that is a cow on Catherine's head
Getting ready for the opening of the 2009 season
Today was the opening day of the baseball and softball season, all the kids were excited and they all looked real cute too. There was tiny littleYankees that made me think about one day little Nathan will be there too. Catherine is a Dodger, as you may have noticed, and it just so happens that the Dodgers are her favorite team. It was a fun day the girls had a bake sale to get money for going to the batting cages and for a pizza party at the end of the season. GO Dodgers!
I hope everyone remembers to change their clocks this evening....we are springing ahead. It will stay light out longer. Of course Sarah doesn't have to worry about her clocks because Hawaii is one state that stays the same all year. It will not be long and we will be visiting Sarah, we are all excited. We want to see her house and her dog and we have some fun adventures planned, we are counting down the days.
On Monday Jenny leaves for Georgia, she is going for training, but I hope she has a good time while she is there too. She will be in class with people from all over the country and on the week-end they can go do some exploring and see the sites of Georgia, and try some good old southern food. I can not wait to see pictures of her adventure.....

Still busy

Well lets see yesterday was Tidy Tuesday, that is always a good day. Today Catherine had her first softball practice, she is a Dodger which of course is her favorite team ever. She accually should have started practicing last week but the was some confusion about the phone call to let her know. Jenny was able to take her to practice today but I will take her Monday because Jenny has invited her grandpa to Palm springs for a day.
The weather is starting to get a little warmer so maybe this saturday we can plant our sunflowers, nothing is more summery then big giant yellow sunflowers. Sunday the girls and I will be going to a baby shower for Nicole, Jenny will join us as soon as she gets off of work. It was fun buying baby stuff Nicole has a whole baseball theme going on I am sure the little guy will have the coolest room ever.
Last Saturday Catherine and I went to see the movie Coraline in 3D, Catherine liked it some of the effects were pretty cool but there wasn't a whole lot of 3d parts. The movie was a little dark and could have been a little distubing to small children, after all the"other mother" wanted to take Coraline's eye out and sew on buttons. The best 3D movie I have ever seen was not really a movie but a Disneyland attraction called Captain EO, I am not a Michael Jackson fan the the 3D effects in the short film were great, there was snake that came right at you and make you jump about three feet off the seat.
Less then four weeks away from Hawaii, Sarah is pretty excited and Catherine has been sending her text messages and pictures. Catherine really wants to see Sarah's dog Jetter, and she can not wait to snorkle. Carolynn loves turtles and she wants to get up close and personal with Hawaii's green sea turtles. I am looking forward to warm weather and eating the fresh pineapple and going to a real Hawaiin luau.
Jenny leaves for Georgia in just about a week. I hope she has some nice spring weather in Georgia. She will have a lot to learn while she is their but she should have time to do some exploring on the week-ends. We went to Nashville a few years back on a kind of a all girls get away and we had the best time. I loved trying all the different foods, Sarah liked greens but none of us really liked grits, we even tried fried pickles which was different, but I do not think I would order it again. Jenny is going to be in Savanah and Atlanta and they have some great southern places to eat, she is planning on eating at Paula Dean's in Savanah...how cool is that.

Happy Day Off

Well I hope that everyone had a nice Valentines Day, I got a new little tree that my dad and I planted before the big storm gets here. I now have three little fruit trees that I hope will be blooming soon. I do not think they will get a ton of fruit this year but they will get there unlike cut flowers I will have my little trees for a long long time.
Monday is presidents day so I have a three day week-end and we are expecting a storm. We got some rain and a few snow flurries the other day but the snow did not stick to the ground, we got a nice soaking rain so it was easy to plant my tree. I don't know about everyone else, but I am ready for some warmer weather. With all the rain we have gotten we will have plenty of weeds this spring, well it will give my dad some thing to do. He is not a fan of the cold weather and since he moved in we have had the most snow we have had in years. I know it is nothing compared to what they get in Michigan or Vermont or Kenosha but it was more then we have had in a long time. I am ready for spring, warm weather and baseball.
Jenny is getting ready to go to Georgia for the rest of her training, she will be there for three weeks. She is excited about the training and meeting new people and doing some site seeing on the week-ends. She is going to try and visit Savannah and eat at The Lady and Sons, on one week-end and go to Atlanta on the other week-end while she is there. There will be lots of things to see in both places, how very Gone With The Wind, I will look forward to hearing all about her adventure and seeing lots of pictures.
We are starting to get stuff ready for our trip to Hawaii we have booked a friday evening adventure on a catamaran it leaves around five and we will get to sail out and get some great views of Diamond Head and then we get to see the fireworks over the bay before we head back. They serve a little buffet of sandwhiches and salad and some tropical drinks which are included in the price so I think it will be a lot of fun and reasonably priced as well. On the north shore there is a famous place to have shrimp that we saw on the food network, we plan on stopping in there. Of course Carolynn and Catherine are looking forword to the snorkling and they hope to swim with a dolphin I will take a ton of pictures.
We are also hoping to share some pictures of a brand new Yankee fan....to be named later.

Fast food, it's whats for dinner

Yesterday Mike did not have to work but I did. I stopped on the way home and picked up the pasta meal from Pizza Hut. I did not know how big it was so I got the chicken one and the lasagna, we had left overs so Mike could take some for his lunch today. I liked the lasagna better then the chicken pasta and they both came with garlic bread sticks, it was pretty good for a nice fast meal. Jenny said her and the girls got one of the pasta meals and you could get a pizza with it for like four bucks more. The girls are big pizza fans, me not so much.

Today we ate at Subway, they have ANY foot long for just five bucks, that's a good deal. I only ate half of mine but my dad polished of his whole foot long. For Sarah in Hawaii they probably have ANY foot long for six bucks, but that is still a good deal......do they have a spam sub there? April made our subs today she always says...Hi Sarah's Mom and Hi Sarah's Grandpa.....she always tells us to say hi to Sarah...today she told us she is engaged.......so congrats to April. For those people that did not know Sarah's very first job was working at the subway, she used to come home smelling like bread and onion and salami everyday. Good times....Good times.

Next I want to try the spicy chicken enchiladas from the Taco Bell they look pretty good. They come with beans and rice and some chips and salsa. My dad is a pretty big fan of the classic taco's from Del Taco, but I think Del Taco is just in California and maybe Nevada. Of course we have Marcelinos and we have gotten food to go from there but they are not really a fast food place. There is only one Marcelinos.........we have been going there for years. The girls and the mom always ask about Sarah there too.

My dad is not a big fan of the Chinese food but sometimes when it is just me and Jenny and the girls we like a little place in Victorville called the Golden Gate. They have good fried rice and orange chicken and chicken chow mien.

Fast foods are not always the most healthy choice but they are offering some healthy choices these days. Eating out can be expensive but for just two people it is sometimes cheaper and easier to grab some tacos or chicken or burgers lots of places have a dollar menu so it is hard to pass up the value and who really wants to work ten hours then come home and cook?
